Default Year-round golf in Tennessee

Hi all. My SO and I will be visiting Tennessee in August to visit potential retirement places and we are interested in locations where golf can be played year-round. What counties in Tennessee have that kind of climate? Thanks!

Tennessee has cold winters, just not as cold as Michigan.

The golf courses are open all year, but there would only be a handful of days from about December to February that anyone would want to play (unless you enjoy playing when it's 34 degrees).

Most of the golfers I know spend that time doing the only thing they like more than playing golf . . . talking about playing golf. ;-)

Thank you alleycat. I figured it would probably not be warm enough to play all year, but in checking a few courses, it seemed that the ones that were not closed part of the year were near the most southern part of the state. We were lucky this year in Michigan; my guy even played golf on January 4th! An aberration of course

There's probably a few more days in Middle and West Tennessee when it would be warm enough to play; other than that it wouldn't matter too much whether you were north or south (elevation would be more important).

The Metro Nashville public couses are open all year, and I believe most of the private clubs are too.

We moved here at the end of last July and so far, my husband has played golf several times every single month. Now, I know this winter has probably been a little different from normal, so don't know how next winter will go. Though my daughter, who lived in Nashville for four years, says that winter temps are up and down all the time and it's not unusual to have 60's or 70's at some point every month. We are in Cookeville.

That would be somewhat typical. Everytime there's a few warm days, the golfers head for the courses. You just never know when they're going to occur.

Come to Alabama! We have very few unplayable days...hardly any snow in north Alabama and none in south. And we have the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Come on down, honey!

Thank you all for the information. Southlander, my brother and his family lived in Huntsville, AL, for many years and they loved it. They only left because of a job move. Thanks for the invite

Like has been said already, there is an opportunity to play golf every month of the year in Tennessee now.Just have your clubs ready, cause you don't have much advance notice!
There have been a certain few days every "winter" month for the past few years that will climb into the 60's,70's or maybe even 80's! Then it may plunge into the teens or single digits a few days later.
Didn't seem to be this way when I was a kid...Maybe Al Gore is on to something!
Thank goodness he invented the internet so we can all talk about it!!HA!
Even with "normal" temps there are always a certain few that play all year long. The courses stay open.
