If you are traveling by car and coming down Interstate 81, I would suggest you stop in the Tri-Cities area, pick up Hwy 26 (exit 50 something off 81) and go North and check out Sullivan County and towns like Church Hill, Mount Carmel and Surgoinsville, these are just a mountain south of Sneedville, but a bit closer to civilization, but still feels like middle of no where, Holston River runs through it all. Be sure to at least drive through Warriors Path Sate Park in Colonial heights area of Kingsport (you can find pictures if you do a search). Then head south on 26 and head to Blountville and follow the map around Boone Lake (More of a wide river) and down to Watugga lake areas, these all seem like what you are looking for. Check out the towns of Elizabethton and Erwin and all of Carter County. Drive south on 26 to Unicoi Co to, beautiful mountains there. I would then pick up route 107 and check out all the area in between Johnson City and Greeneville. Then you can pick up 81 again in West Greene County and head towards the middle TN areas that others have told you about. You can check out all these areas in a day but to really check them out I would suggest you spend at least 3 days in this area to get a good feel for it all.
Above all, no matter where you go, be safe, have fun and take lots of pictures and take notes to share with us.

Check out the Nashville forum. A couple of people have asked about the Paris/Camden area. You might be able to help.

I (we) enjoy waking up and cooking on a campfire, going fishing even if not to catch anything because the peace of it just makes you feel incredible. Seeing the smile and excitement on your childs face if they do catch something. Sitting by the campfire after the kids have gone to sleep laying by my wife not saying anything but feeling everything within each other and our surroundings. Would like a combination of fields and woods possible within an hour or so travel to work as I have worked in retail mgmt for most of my adult life. I have looked into several locations from this site and felt right @ home when reading about a little place called Sneedville but travel to work that would fit my experince seems a little out of reach.
Again, thank you so much and may you have a great day. Any and all of your input is genuinely appreciated. Thank you for taking time from YOUR day to talk with us.

Clone? not sure, but maybe the wife would consider a short term lease. OOOOOoo did I say lease? meant short leash but ty for the compliment if that what was intended. All of us have the ability to show and share emotion and caring, jus takes that 1 right person to bring it out in em and I just got lucky is all.Just lookin now for that right spot to live to complete our lives together and bring us even closer together as our life here is complicated and way too hectic. Just want to slow down, enjoy our time together and be able to spend time watchin my kids grow.

atpeace...we too live in NH and are moving to Tennessee, hopefully this summer. You will enjoy the drive, lots of beautiful scenery. We just bought a place near the Alabama border. The town is small, in the country, people are really great. You will find neighbors that actually like to help, less traffic, and lower taxes. I bet you end up wanting to stay!

Thanks casey. We were considering that area ourselves. Possibly the collinwood or clifton area. Any input would be greatly appreciated from anyone in the area or someone that may be familiar with it. Thanks in advance

Let me know if you want the name of our realtor. He was great, honest and a true Tenn. native. The unemployment rate there is pretty high but Alabama is so close. There are plenty of retail stores in Florence. I'm not sure what type of retail is your specialty but there is a wide variety of places. The real estate is so cheap compared to NH and you would be amazed at the difference in your property taxes. We spent time in Collinwood and the people are great. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a beautiful ride!

Thanks casey. Checked out some pics of the Natchez Trace Parkway and yes it does look to be a beautiful ride and may have some good relocation opportunities along the way as well. With so much beautiful territory in the area how does anyone decide? Please keep it comin with places to look and travel, much appreciated everyone.
