Beautiful NE Tennessee-No road rage-no heat-A beautiful drive in the mountains
in NE Tennessee. I didnt get pix though (sorry- mbmouse maybe you can add?) but I must say -you could NEVER enjoy this in S Florida!!!
I drove through Mountain City and Banner Elk and also Boone- a nice town- it is getting built up but the weather was PERFECT. Lake Watauga is also beautiful and unspoiled. No developers plowing the roads.
If I were still living in S Florida I would already have 400.00 (at least) a month a/c and be dying from the heat- you cant get fresh air bcs the humidity and bugs will come in the house- I had a nice Florida room off a lake- which 10 months out of the year was UNUSEABLE due to the heat and humidity.
Anyway Tennessee is a beautiful state in late spring/summer!!

Spring in Tennessee is gorgeous.
Come down to Knoxville, though. Huge traffic and subdivisions. We had a drug-deal shooting in broad daylight in WEST Knoxville today. It's coming.
And the Atomic speedway, they were tearing that down today, and it caught in fire.
Tennessee's spring is not as glorious this year.

~But its still better than Fl!!. If I feel safe driving alone for 6 hours that is a big thing. In S Florida I was afraid if I had car problems getting attacked on Fl Tpke - it has the most fatalities of any hwy- as well as I95.
Plus Tennessee people stop to offer help if you have a flat- that hasnt happened to me EVER!!.

What is Knoxvegas? I havent had a chance to see that city (just through the highway on a drive through Kentucky) .
I am still happy to be living here for the summer and not Florida. S Florida heat is brutal.

East Tennessee
Depending on what you and your family enjoy will determine where you should live. Deep West Knoxville, Farragut and Concord area's are really nice. You have everything you need close by. Go a little further West into Lenoir City, Loudon and Tellico Village to investigate further possibilites. These area's are also growing, but at least you will have some time before it get's crazy and your still only a half hour to the West Town Mall and even less if you are going to Turkey Creek. You can also go North to Maryville which is also very nice. As you can see, I am not very opinionated in the least I have plenty of information that I can share if your interested. Good Luck
