Default Want to relocate, need advice...

Hello:

My girlfriend and I just came back from a vaction/exploration of the area between Knoxville and Chatanooga. Some of the cities/towns we looked at were:

Knoxville
Dandridge
Maryville
Madisonville
Charleston
Cleveland
Chattanooga
Ocoee
sewanee
MontEagle
Tracy City

We love many of these areas. Now the questions. Any help is appreciated:

1. We want to be near a major area - Knoxville or Chattanooga, or maybe Nashville. Any preferences among the group above as far as best place for work in technology (programming, IT, etc)

2. We will eventually buy property - looking for over 2 acres, with or without a home already on it. However, I need to work, so the idea is to find a job first, then decide where to buy based on where our jobs are. The question is, what is my best bet for finding a tech job? Do you know any recruiters or tips for where technology jobs are in Tennessee? I currently work for a college so a major college would be good too.

3. I will need to rent a place fast if I find a job, so any idea among the group above where rental homes are most available?

I guess we are just a little lost as to how best to accomplish our relocation. We know we love Tennessee, but getting from point A to point B is the problem.

BTW, if anyone knows of a company that needs a web developer with 12+ years of experience, let me know!

thanks,

J

You might want to look into Oak Ridge for employment. It is next to Knoxville, which has many apartments in the west-end, near Oak Ridge.

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory is located in Oak Ridge. It would probably be your best place to start looking.

I'm glad you love Tennessee. We moved to Knoxville four years ago from swFlorida. Best thing we've ever done.
