This Saturday, take a round-trip ride on a 1950s vintage passenger excursion train from Nashville to Cookeville for the Spring Festival, featuring children's activities, a climbing wall, face painting, clowns, live entertainment, antiques and collections, craft booths and railroad memorabilia, centered around the Cookeville Depot Tennessee Central Railway Museum.
Featured at the festival is the Tennessee State Championship for the Resonator Guitar (the "dobro"). Other categories include bluegrass bands, banjo, fiddle, and mandolin as well as a performance by the national championship cloggers Rhythm 'n Motion.
There's also an excursion train from Cookeville to Algood before the train returns back down the plateau to Nashville later in the afternoon.
