Default Hawaii to West Central Tennessee

Aloha from Hawaii. My husband and I are looking to relocate to WC TN. Does anybody know what it is like in this area? We have been looking for a safe, healthy, friendly environment to raise our now 1 year old son. It is just too expensive here in Hawaii. Any advise on towns will be helpful. So far Lexington, Jackson and Muphreesboro seem like possiblities.

You might want to list the main criteria you're using to evaluate locations, being as specific as possible. The more detailed information you provide, the more likely it is that we can offer you some suggestions that might work for you.

I've never even heard of Lexington. Jackson is generally regarded as an armpit, but a few posters here really like living around there. Murfreesboro is a very nice place.

Jackson will be a bit less safe than the other two, but Murfreesboro is growing rapidly, so an uptick in crime will probably happen. Also, owing to MTSU being there, I'm sure there are some neighborhoods that're a bit more... "student-oriented" (being nice about it ).

That's about all I can say unless you want to tell me more. How close to an int'l airport? Medical? Good private schools, or is public okay? What kind of home do you want? Urban? suburban? Rural?

MTSU? Sorry, I'm a greenpea...? Please explain. I guess we are just needing to find a "community". A place where families know their neighbors. Yes, good medical and edcuational resources are important to us too. Does anybody know anything about LEXINGTON?

Well first things first, Murfreesboro isn't in Western Central Tennessee. Its in Middle Tennessee.

Cities in Western Central Tennessee are Paris, Jackson, Dyersburg, and a couple of others here and there.

I don't know where Paris is, but Dyersburg is in West Tennessee, not Western Central Tennessee. As in, near the Mississippi River. I believe that Jackson is commonly accepted to be in West Tennessee too, but I could see where it could possibly be grouped as "western Middle Tennessee" or "eastern West Tennessee"

The three divisions are (officially) West, Middle and East Tennessee btw.
