Relocating to the area-can anyone tell me about Paris, Tenn.?
We are sick of the hurricanes in Florida and now considering moving from a rural community in Central Florida to Paris, Tennessee. Is it a family community? Reasonable real estate? Property taxes? Good schools? Decent job market? I am in advertising and would need to find a job first. What are the natural disasters to worry about in Tennessee? Tornadoes? Anything else? What is the weather like? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Trendy
yes, Paris is a family community, very friendly, and with reasonable real estate--of course it depends on what your price range is, but compared to FL, a real bargain. Property tax depends on whether you are in the city limits or not, but there is no personal income tax to deal with. Yes, we have to deal with tornados, and the weather is hot and humid in the summer, usually not extremely cold in winter. We are near an earthquate fault, but are far enough away that unlesss it is hugh, this area will not have a problem. We have a beautiful lake area, with a lot of boating activities, as well as other family friendly things to do. Come visit, you will like it.

Mike- I agree with you about Paris. That whole area of northwest Tennessee is nice. The same goes for Murray, KY. It seems as though most of these people from other states are flooding (or about to flood) into East Tennessee because they have this obsession with the hills. It is good that places like Paris are still well kept secrets.
