Apparently not. ;-)

I've been to Smithville, but just to buy some shrubs. Smithville, like neighboring McMinnville, has a lot of plant nurseries.

It's near Center Hill Lake and a state park. The land itself is wooded, rolling hills.

The area is fairly rural. You might have a problem if you're looking for any kind of job opportunity (but I'm not sure).

That's about all I know about it.

Got a job in Cookeville.
Gonna look when up there at end of month.
Just keeping my options open... I don't want to be in a big city.
( I have that now )

I guess I don't consider Cookeville a big city. You should be able to find something "out in the county" around Cookeville (but I'm not that familiar with the area so I can't offer any advice on where to look). If it was me, I would start by looking in Putnam County itself.

True it's not a big city now, but in 20 years...
My current place in gulfport was like that, when we first moved here
our little subdivision had only 12 houses, 15 yrs later, it's packed.
people used to be nice and friendly, we had block parties, ect.
now your luckey to get a wave outta someone.

Guess I am getting older....

I'm originally from Smithville, Tn. and it's a great place to live. Quiet little town as long as you don't try to make waves with anyone. More or less they are all related in some way. Try fishing there, it's great.

Smithville is pretty. Have you considered Livingston or Allgood? Those are towns that are 'connected' somewhat to Cookeville but far enough away not to be affected by any rapid growth.

We looked at a house in Livingston, had a oil well in back yard.
It just wasnt us.
Looked in Allgood, was OK.
Found a nice place in Rickman, but it's sold now...
I have a better feel for Baxter, Sparta, SW Cookeville area.

Don't know why? just that feeling in the back of my head.
