Default Haywood County

On the few posts that I have seen about Haywood county, they have all been negative with no explanations. Now as a former Haywood County resident, I know all about my county but I want to know from those who are not residents.. what do people have to say about it or what has been your experience which gives you a negative view?

the two things that i have heard and witnessed on a consistent basis: 1) many people in brownsville are hung up on social class and wealth, and 2) too many uneducated, unmotivated, and poverty-stricken black people. there are parts of the town of brownsville that personally appeal to me. again, there seems to be an excessive amount of social climbing, for such a small community.

Haywood County is one of Tennessee's poorest counties -- if not the poorest county.

My primary concerns with Brownsville and Haywood County are:

1) The once-thriving middle class has completely abandoned the area.

2) It is impossible to find young, upwardly-mobile families in the area. The county consists of poor African-Americans and elderly whites. Nothing really in-between.

It's a really depressing area, imo. It's the Tennessee equivalent of Forrest City, Arkansas, or Clarksdale, Mississippi.
