Bank Failures in Middle and Eastern Tennessee
I'm doing a little bit of bank research and I was curious if anyone is aware of any banks shut down by the FDIC this year in either Middle and/or East Tennessee. All I really need is the names, so I can look up the banks in the FDIC database. Essentially, I am trying to discern some of the characteristics of the failed banks in Tennessee (if there are any).
If there are nothing but crickets chirping in this thread, that's alright, too. It was worth a shot anyway

So many of the banks are part of the big national or regional banks these days.
I haven't kept with it, but I don't remember anything about a bank failing in Middle Tennessee lately. From time to time some very small bank will be taken over and shut down just because it's harder for such small banks to succeed these days; I haven't heard of this happening to any banks around here lately.
There's probably a Tennessee Bankers Association (I'm guessing); you might Google and see if you can find any organization like that and then contact them.

Nevermind. I have found the answer
Amazingly enough, there have been no bank failures in Tennessee this year. Of course, I don't think there are too many places in TN where the RE bubble got all that out of hand.
Georgia is a completely different story. I count 21 bank failures in Georgia this year.

In Crossville two banks just built new buildings and the credit union built on to their existing building.

Yep. Georgia and Illinois have the most bank failures in the nation.

They have built like 5 new banks in the Tri-Cities area in the past year.
I love the way the media says one thing but when you look out your own back door, life is very different.
Sure, some of the banks went out of business, some local to some states and some national, but if you listen to the news, there aren't any left! LOL!

We're very fortunate in Tennessee. We are slow and steady as she goes, which is much better than the boom and busts of many, many states.
The number of bank failures has reached 115 since January -- more than four times the total for 2008 and the most since the savings and loan crisis in 1992. And most experts expect problems caused by unpaid loans to force many more closures in the coming years, mostly among small, community-based banks.
