Does anyone have any comments on Clinton, good, bad, or otherwise?

We've been in Clinton for a year now. I love it. I can't tell you much about the schools, as the kids are grown and gone.

I've been meaning to take some pictures. The City-Data page only has an aerial view and there is some very pretty country here. Hopefully, I can get to it this week and post some, if you're interested.

Clinton is small, population around 9,000. The Clinch River runs through it and where Rt. 61 follows it is one of my favorite areas. The downtown area is older, lots of antique stores. I guess it's kind of a mix of old and new - lots of new housing construction. Housing runs the gamut from old homes to brand new, big ticket to inexpensive, subdivision to off-on-your-own.

There's some kind of shopping center going up near I-75, but still plenty of business for everyday needs. Food Lion, Food City, Walgreens, vets, doctors, big Toyota dealership and Ford dealership.

We're close to Oak Ridge for bigger shopping and dining selection and only about 20 minutes into Knoxville.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Thanks jmarkey. I received an e-mail from a realtor for a home in the area there and thought I'd see what anyone had to say about the area. From what you've provided I'd say it's about what we are looking for. We don't have to worry about schools and hopefully not work either. We're looking for something near a small town, not actually in one and we will be looking at the home in June, provided it is still available.

Thanks again.

We are considering Clinton and Oak Ridge to relocate this summer. We are moving from Ecuador where we serve as missionaries. We have to latin american adopted children 11years and 15years. Which town would offer the most for our family as far as diversity, schools, safety, small town feel but close to things to do?? Thanks for your help!
