I was born there in 1947 and left in 1966. When I was in Vietnam, I had flashbacks about this place. Beware!!
The term "Wilder Mountain" is funny as hell. Wilder TN is 1100 feet above sea level!! Some mountain, Huh? It appears the Snake Oil Salesman have moved in and are busy shafting the unsuspecting. Look at a topographical map of the area. This place was butchered years ago by coal miners stripping coal from every hill for miles and miles. And they did not bother to fill the pit back in. This has virtually destroyed the small streams and rivers in the area. TURN YOUR BACK TO THIS PLACE AND RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!! Check out the highway slides on route 85 leading into Wilder. Scary!

Moderator cut: cut Well I am happy to tell everyone that we ALL have internet up here in the Wilder Mountain Subdivision. There are places just around the corner to get milk and bread and it is only a 5 minute drive. It is sad to Moderator cut: read the postsabout our beautiful and safe community. We have 2 sheriff's deputies who live up here full time. We are in the process of getting a fire station too! AirEvac has come up and we all have subscriptions to it and the membership is very reasonable. If someone was to have a life threatening emergency the small fee is worth every penny! We had an AirEvac demo just a few months ago and the helicopter landed and I have a copy that I recorded to give to all our new residents up here. The tar and chip roads are in great shape thanks to our road superintendent Butch Blevens. Just last week we had a stop sign down right outside the subdivision and it was nice to see how quickly they repaired it and got it back up. The roads are salted in advance if there is expected ice or snow in the forecast. We have a beautiful bluff lot and look at our pictures of the mountains....Moderator cut: cut There has never been a single "highway slide" in the 2+ years we have lived here and we drive the roads daily going to and from Jamestown and also to Monterey/Cookeville. The water is sparkling clear and we have no sulfur taste or smell. We only had to drill 120 feet and we hit water at the 100 ft. marker. Currently there are 5 homes being built and more starting up after the first of the year! Moderator cut: cut We are Wilder residents and if you ask any of our many wonderful neighbors here they too will confirm that Wilder truly is a beautiful, safe and peaceful place to live! Thank you all for taking the time to read the REAL TRUTH.

Ok, I don't think that there is anyway around this since I have been receiving reported posts from lots of people on lots of posts in this thread. I have had to delete numerous posts from several members.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions and everyone is entitled to post. What is one persons truth is not necessarily the same for another.
The TOS requires that we not be rude or do name calling or personal attacks. One persons hell is anothers mecca. Live and let live. I hope we can continue this thread in a civil fashion but if not it will be closed.
Thanks and have a great night all.

Wilderfamily - Appreciate the updates and keeping it real. For whatever reason, some have axes to grind. Some of the posts on this thread last week were ridiculous and attacking and served no purpose.
Keep the lines of communication up and the pictures flowing!
SMG, thanks for cleaning it up.

Thanks Grizzlybear34! I will be posting some fall pictures from up here in Wilder this next week. I am waiting for a really bright day so that the beautiful fall colors really "pop" in the pictures. It's a little rainy/overcast today, so hopefully by the weekend I can get some taken.
