Default Buyer beware

My husband have been scamed by this developer and i am so ashamed that this has happened to us. We purchased April of 06 at Wilder mountain and told by the saleperson that we had 2 buildable acres so we wrote a contract in the amount of $79,900 and only later after we closed and visited the property found that only 1/4 acres was buildable needless to say we were very upset. J.J Detweiler contacted us after we complained and said that they would exchange land at their new development at Sequatchie point.
They flew us there. The General/manager Daniel Graber showed us property.
We said that we liked the development and would agree to exchange.
Daniel told us for an additional $70,000.00 we could make a deal, again we
were so mad, it sounded like "Bait in switch" We contacted an attorney who
advised us to settle. J.J Detweiler agreed to refund our money. On the day
we were promised on goodfaith, yet another disappointment. They did not
honor their goodfaith. We are now sooooo angry and would like to worn all
persons that might be interested in doing business with this shady developer.
As of now we have filed a lawsuit.

so sorry to hear about your ordeal lily. Hope your attorney is able to remedy the situation. If you win, perhaps you can get them to pay your legal expenses too.

Default Wilder Mountain

I tried to warn people ref. this developer on several posts. People only hear what they want to hear.

Again people-do your homework before buying any land from any developer.

After what happened in Wilder I understand Marion County is keeping a close watch on this project. Maybe things will turn out better in SP.

Best of luck with your civil action.

Ironwood

Wilder is a scary scary place to be. A burned out mining community that doesn't take to outsiders. I can't believe the realtors and developers can still scam people into buying there. The lure of cheap property I guess. Trust what others have said... You get what you pay for, if it's cheap there must be a reason... Good luck to you all.

Wink wilder mountain

My husband and I also bought property on Wilder Mountain in 2006. We were just up at our property in March of this year and the roads are built like were promised and we love our property by the reiver. We hope to build soon. We live in florida at the present, but hope to retire within the year. Have not been able to find any wrong doing with JJ Detweiler. Sometimes I think people post false information to try and sell their own land! If anyone has any concreat information please let me know.

I am happy that things worked out for you however in my case we only wished that things could of worked out better. My husband and i are so disappointed with the developer not with wilder mountain. We love the area and the beauty that Wilder has to offer and this not a case of the developer not completing roads but selling us short of what we thought we were buying.
We are not trying to sell but even if we were i don't think anyone would like to buy the parcel of land that was sold to us by an dishonest salesman. We just wanted to build our dream home which is now delayed due to litigation.

Default Water

I would check if water is available before buying any property in TN.
I knew that because my property was 2,900 feet I would have to go deep, but not 580 feet. My well cost more than I paid for the one acre. My well driller said he had to go 1,000 feet for water in Wilder, Tn. At $8.50 a for drilling and 10.00 per foot for casing , then pump and pipe.

So before you buy , call a local well driller, then call the septic tank people.

The property might have the best view, the with no water or septic tank, the property is worthless.

Ps try to buy the property at flyer prices, they seem to sold out!

Smile wilder mountain

I own 5 acres in Wilder mountain and never have had any problem with the developer. Although I am selling because I wanted to be a little closer to stores and have other property in Tn. Wilder is a beautiful place if you want to get away from it all. the developer is constantly working on the area doing what they promised.

Again i stress. I don't have a problem with the development. It is beautiful there. We would have loved to build our dream cabin there and unlike you we
don't mind not being close to stores, thats why we bought there but we do have a big problem with the misrepresention and integrity!
