Default Need help with question on EUIB.

I am on Extended Unemployment Insurance Benefits and was asked if I wanted to interview for a 5 week assignment with a temporary agency.

It is very unlikely that anything permanent would come out of this assignemnt and the pay rate is more than my benefits but about 40% less than what I was making before I got laid off. I would, however, be working again and I think that would help me regain some confidence.

If I do happen to get hired for it, what would happen with my UIB claim? If I keep reporting the income for the 5 week duration would my original claim just pick up again or would I have to re-apply with the new lower wages factured into the benefit amount? Could I lose benefits altogether?

I've tried contacting the UE office but they do not answer the phone and I need to give an answer by tomorrow afternoon.

HELP!

I am not a specialist but here is my opinion:

I do not think that the new wages would factor in, I think that you would be picked back up at the same rate as before. You may not have to reapply if you continue to call and report your wages.

It is easier to find a job when you have a job and if I were you I would take the temp job. It is more than the benefit amount and gets you out working.

Best of luck to you!
