Default Help Me Understand Monteagle, TN

I am moving my family to the Monteagle region this year and would love to get inputs from local folks on every topic from dining to housing to hospitals (doctors and dentists) schools (K-12) to recreation (hunting and fishing spots). Thank you so much for this consideration!

Monteagle is a very rural area of Tennessee located in Grundy County. It has come a long ways in the last few years in all aspects. It is a very beauiful area. It is about 50 miles from Chattanooga Tennessee and you can find there all the conveniences of larger city life there. The hunting and fishing is excellent. The public schools are OK, not great. Although, close by is Sewanee which has one of the best private schools and Universities in the nation. Several Noble Prize winners have attended there. Not far away is Winchester, TN which has the larger hospital and staff. Sewanee also has a satellite hospital of the Winchester hospital. Care in both is improving but still not as good as large cities. A very beautiful and rural area in scenic Tennessee...

I have lived in Monteagle all my life 35 yrs. I have a son that goes to Monteagle Elementary School and this school is wonderful. It is an accredited school. A and very dedicated from the teachers to the principles. I would recommed this school with no hesitation.
