[quote=happyappy;828988]We got showers off and on the whole time we were gone with a cool breeze and the temperature was low enough that I could roll my windows up while sitting in the parking lot—and crank up the tunes!
It seems as though you are spending a lot of time sitting in parking lots. What's going on? Are you chauffering your wife around town?

I'm not permitted to shop, generally. When heavy stuff is part of the list, I get to go in. I've been told that I'm not good about looking at prices for bargains, an activity that apparently carries a high degree of importance to some people. I don't get to drive either so she's basically chauffering me around in case I might actually serve some purpose along the way. What a life.

My husbands' purpose when we shop, errrr...rather, when I shop for bargains, is that he is the Official Holder of the Wallet. I find the bargains, he hands the wallet over to pay. It works out pretty well that way.
He also complains that he's going to block HGTV from our tv, as it gives me wayyyy too many ideas. I tell him it doesn't Look complicated. Then, he launches into these long drawn out, over-purposefully complicated explanations as to why these various projects that I keep coming up with, are not at all feasible. I then tell him that he over-complicates things, painting a room can't be THAT expensive or complicated. Well, I guess, after buying a 5 gallon container of joint compound, sand paper, drop cloths, tape, paper, 5 gallon container of primer, 5 gallons of paint, and 3 boxes of texturizing sand to go over the top of the old 1970's wood panelling - ....oh, did I neglect to say that this simple project of painting was painting over top of old wood panelling? Well - $300+ and 5 days later, our 19 x 21' living room, foyer and hallway are now in the 21st century and out of the 1970's time warp we've been trapped in.
Well, he was bored anyway, just sitting around on his recliner watching tv and snoozing thru the days while he was laid off for the winter, so, I needed to keep him occupied. And get our house updated to sell it!!!
Now, for the next project!
blessings, Shen

I think I recognize this process you’re describing. Your husband correctly and patiently explains how complex, impractical, and next-to-impossible your desired project is going to be and your response is, “So, how long will it take?”
Yeah, been there LOTS of times.

Of course. That's my job, and I do it well.

I think all men that have been married for a while have been there lots of times. It seems that women sometimes never understand the complexity of completing certain tasks. "Dear, all we have to do is move this wall." After I retire in Tennessee, I guess I'll no longer be able to use the excuse that I don't have the time. I'll be retired by then and joining you in the parking lots around Cookeville. Maybe we can have a latte together. Oh well, what would we do without our wives?

A day without espresso is a day that is so-so.

As to the latter . . . I . . . will pass on such speculation.

In between shopping for bargains, I just may join you for that latte. Shopping is hard work! I've got to find out where to good coffee shoppes are. Or a good book shoppe with a latte bar.

If you're in Nashville, stop by the Davis-Kidd Bookstore. You can have a latte there . . . along with the "Death By Chocolate" cake. Perhaps an avocado BLT as your entree?
