In between shopping for bargains, I just may join you for that latte. Shopping is hard work! I've got to find out where to good coffee shoppes are. Or a good book shoppe with a latte bar.

If you in Cookeville, we have a few coffe shops that I highly recommend. 1st, there's Poet's on the Square, it's very quaint with great drinks. Next, there's 1st Street Coffe House, I don't have personal knowledge of this one, but my teenage daughter and her friends brag on this one alot, (I was not allowed in with them, I was in the parking lot enjoying the peace and quiet). Then there's Perk-Up Espresso, it's a small shop on Jefferson Ave. I've heard good stuff about them. Then there is Starbucks, no explenation needed. Basically, I try to shop at the mom and pop shop whenever I can, they seem to care more about the customer and not the sale.

Reality check. My son had a little league baseball game last night. By games end it was 48 degrees! (In June!) My wife and I were fighting over the blanket. We planned on sitting on it. Before games end we were wrapped in it! The alure of the great state of Tenessee is the Spring, fall and winter! Not to mention the extended growing season, tossing the snow blower, ice chipper, and salt. Give me some sweltering days!!!!

I know what you mean! I got sooo used to the nice warm days. First thing I do in the mornings is open the doors and windows. Well, the other morning, I opened the back door - got a blast of cold air! Last nite was the first nite in awhile that I had to pull the comforter back on for warmth. It was COLD! Then again, comparably to mid January, I'd call it balmy - but your body gets used to the temperatures and adjusts.

There's alot of humidity here in SWPA with all the rivers and lakes, trees, etc. But going somewhere like Arizona for the dry heat would be unbearable for me - mainly because - there's no green! Green hills, grass, trees, forests. But, at least in TN in the winter, we won't have to put up with the snowblower, chipping ice off the car windows every few hours. But, from what I hear, we'll have to put up with bad drivers in TN who don't know how to drive in snow and ice for the few times that it will snow or have an ice storm there.

blessings, Shen

My daughter used to go to a coffee house with all her friends when she was a teenager. More of a teen hangout with internet access than anything. I'm not too crazy about Starbucks coffee - wayyy too strong for me. I've recently discovered this discount book shoppe that has a coffee / latte bar inside. Very nice! Comfy couches to sit on while you're browsing thru a book or the newspaper, sipping at the coffee.

Another thing that I like, and hoping that Cookeville has it, is a coffee shoppe or similar, that has live entertainment on the weekends. Just a solo guitarist, or pianist of local talent. It's just nice to get out to a place that's clean, no drunks, not loud, not rowdy, just nice music. And go stroll the streets and window shop, sit down at an outdoor cafe.

Nothing big city. I want to live out in the country, but be able to drive into town for a little Saturday evening entertainment.

blessings, Shen

I think people around here drive just fine in the snow. I'm the one that drives very cautiously. I putt-putt down the street when it is slick. People shouldn't be driving fast in bad weather, anyway.

Everyone is different...it's all about genetics. My ancestry is Norwegian. I grew up in SoCal and have lived in TN for like 7yrs or so...but I get sick in hot weather. I don't even really sweat that much..I just feel faint and get migrains and such. I spent 5yrs in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (better known as Winterpeg, Minusnowba) going to university. I adapted to the 9mo-winters and -30 (sometimes -40) degree weather after my first year there. On the other hand, all the other international students froze their bums off. I remember seeing some of the Mexican and Venezuelan students wearing jackets in mid-July when it was 75-80F outside. I was wearing shorts in 30F. That was Spring when the snow began to thaw and everyone went to the beach.

OH, This is my third summer here! It's looking to be like the last two. I start sweating from heat and humidity, around May 12th. I will probably stop sweating around September 10th. I cannot get used to getting out of a nice shower, and by the time I am done towling off. I have already started sweating. We have clothes, especially leather with mold on them, in the closet, out in the open in the bedroom. It dosn't matter. The mold has to be wiped off alot of stuff, why? Because of the humidity. That is why tree frogs can live in trees here, all summer. Also why pressure washing the outside of your house is so popular. Mold grow well, with humidity.

Sounds like it's a good thing I'm paying to have the pressure washer shipped to TN.

I'm not a fan of humidity at all, but as long as it's not like 98 degrees with humidity, I'm all good...especially in exchange for not having to deal with bitter cold and wind.

It does that, too. Just giving you fair warning. But it isn't for very long. Not like Florida, anyway.

It was 90 degrees in Knoxville today, but with very low humidity.
