Default Humidity

I have been to east Tennessee for last last four years and while the humidity is more then Albuquerque, New Mexico, there was only one day that was unbearable. That was last 4th of July in Erwin. After a week or so you really don't notice it. It is a whole lot better then living in this God foresaken country of hot DRY heat that dries out and wrinkles your skin. The restrictions on water that does not allow enough to keep the grass green. My choice Tennessee here we come. Will be there by the end of next month and will enjoy every bit of the humidity.

Default Okay, where is it?

I experienced another first this morning:

I wear glasses (well, they’re plastic these days) and I’m sure everyone who is thus afflicted has experienced coming from outside in the winter cold into a house that’s nice and warm and more humid than the outside air, and having their glasses steam up immediately.

Well, this morning I walked out of this air conditioned house and my glasses steamed up so much that I had to take them off to find the car!

Now THAT’S humidity!

I wear glasses, but generally not around the house. The worse thing like that that happens to me is if I'm wearing my glasses and get something hot and steaming out of the oven and my glasses fog up . . . now I'm blind, holding a hot pan, and can't even see where to put it down, or have a hand free to take off my glasses. Generally there will also be a cat right under my feet as well, so I can't even move.

The Gods have a sense of humor.

LOL!! My ex-fiance is of Swedish ancestry, and would wear shorts almost all winter (he's Canadian). I'd be all bundled up in heavy winter coat, scarf and tuque, 0 degrees out, and he'd be in shorts! The only exception was when we'd cross country ski or go ice skating on the lake.

Here's a pic of us x country skiing along the Riviere Nord in Quebec, near his chalet:

Sorry to say, but I do love the snow, and loved going cross country skiing. I do miss all the winter activities I enjoyed in Quebec, but my husband is a bit more sensitive of the cold than me, is tired of the snow shovelling, etc, as well as getting laid off 6 months of the year during the winter. I enjoy alot of good warm weather activities too, I just have to drag hubby away from the recliner and remote control to enjoy them with me.

I'm looking forward to living in Tennessee for many reasons, will miss family and friends in Pennsylvania, but we plan on making our place in TN into a family vacation area so the rest of the family will visit us! I know my sister and mom will love it. Especially my mom, as she's a born and bred hillbilly. She'll probably visit me more in TN than she has since I moved 60 miles north. And she hasn't visited me one time yet, in the over 2 1/2 years I moved here.
Seems to her, 'North' is a dirty word.... LOL!

blessings, Shen

I just found another pic of my ex-fiance and myself - standing on top of the mountain, in the fall, it was below 30, with high winds - and he's comfortably wearing shorts!

It sounds like you are having a great deal of fun in your new environment! I'm looking forward to it as well. Can't wait! You might want to switch from a latte to a cool mint julip when you go to town with your wife.

I'm just about addicted to the iced hazelnut coffee at McDonalds. I'll make my own, but somehow, it's just not the same. So, I'm doomed to spending $2 . But, then again, I'm contributing to the local economy, as well as national, so, I guess it's not all a loss, right?

blessings, Shen
