OVERTON COUNTY -- It was near the end of the Civil War in April of 1865 when the unthinkable happened in Overton County -- a band of Confederate guerillas from Kentucky came through and burned the old Courthouse to the ground, nearly destroying all the county's histioric records. ..

Thanks for posting this. Overton County is a wonderful area with some incredibly beautiful scenery and very friendly people. Livingston is a really cute little town, too, with a nice town square. For people moving to Cookeville and want a less expensive alternative, Overton County is a good option.
