My husband is a gun dealer and gunsmith, and we are looking into relocating to N. Alabama/S. Tennessee where he grew up. Would Pulaski/Lawrenceburg be a good location for that type of business? Are there any other gunsmiths in the area?

Gunnie I live in cullman county alabama and am very familliar with all of southern tennessee. And i just want to say i dont think your have any problem selling guns in the north bama south tenn area. Folks in these parts like hunting, shooting, and just like guns. So i think you will be allright in either area, but i would prefer yall stay out of bama we dont need any more new people.

Lawrenceburg has a few gunshops/pawnshops already. A few years ago they built a Bi-Lo grocey store and they left in about a year because there weren't enough customers to split with Kroger & Wal-mart. (BTW, Florence is a great city.)

"not enough customers" wasn't Bi-Lo's problem. They priced themselves out of the market ... at least that's what happened in Columbia.

Same in Fayetteville. We nicknamed them "Bi-Lo, Sell-Hi"

I think that's ridiculous that they hired someone who can't even speak English. English is a hard language to learn, but you should know basic English if you're going to come here.

it wasn't that they priced themseleves out - it's because of wal-mart, which is a blight on the american economy. people want convenience - walmart gives it. i won't shop there......i give my money to the local merchants, the ones support our economy in Pulaski, not arkanasas. besides, if we continue to shop at (only) walmart, you'll get to a point where wal mart will dictate to you what you are able to buy, not the other way around.

No, they literally priced themselves out of customers. My mom stopped shopping there once she realized their prices kept rising. In Columbia, there's a Kroger literally around the corner from the former Bi-Lo location, a Food Lion (I think it's still there, I'm not sure) and now a Piggly Wiggly about a mile away from there.
Now Walmart may have killed Columbia's mall, which was and still is on life support as it is, but you can't blame Walmart for Bi-lo's failure, at least in the Columbia market.

Well, Walmart just priced us out of shopping at their store in Pulaski. We were up there specifically to shop the 50 cent greeting cards at the Dollar store in the same shopping area as Walmart tonight. DW said "Let's stop in to Walmart and get some deli turkey." By the time I had parked, I met her on the way out of the store, exclaiming "Do you know what they are charging in there?!?" The Athens AL store has deli turkey that is affordable. Apparently, Walmart thinks it now has a lock on Pulaski.
Yes, stuff like this DOES happen.
