Some of the groceries may have been higher at Bi-Lo, but I found i could bargain hunt a whole lot better there than Wal-Mart - plus they double your coupons some. They probably closed the one in columbia because of wal-mart and kroger because the community couldn't support 3 large grocery stores.
i've found that our wal-mart here is a lot higher than cool springs wal-mart, plus we don't have the variety. I shop local at Davis & Eslick. The folks there are great. they know who you are and if you ask, they try to get the products you want.

Thanks for repeating yourself. I think i will do the same here.

Do you live in Columbia? No? Ok then. My family has for 15 years, so I think they would know what's going on. If Wal-mart is running EVERYBODY out, then why is there still the Kroger, the Food Lion and the Piggly Wiggly on that side of town? So, now there's two large grocery stores, and two smaller ones nearby. Bi-Lo/Southern Food or whatever it called itself killed itself.

But if you want to post again repeating yourself go ahead!

People actually move to Pulaski ?

To the O.P., You're in for one hell of a culture shock. My wife and I make sure we've got enough gas to avoid having to stop between Nashville and Birmingham when we make our trips to New Orleans and Houston.

We stopped at a truck stop type gas station in Pulaski once and got a very unwelcome feeling and alot of stares from the people there. Of course we're an I.R. couple and when my wife read about Pulaski's history, well... we haven't stopped there since.

I'm sorry about your visit. People everywhere can be rude. But - if you were at a truck stop gas station just off the interstate, you were actually in Cornersville. that's just the exit for Pulaski. And yes, there is history there, no denying that. as far as the i.r. stuff goes, there's too much of that here now - so you wouldn't be an oddity.
