Default Insurance questions

For those who recieve health insurance through their employer, what are you currently paying. We're currently paying $540 a month for a family plan on BCBS through employment. I'm hoping to get a little relief if possible when we move to TN but i don't know if it's any different in prices in other states being it's the same company.

Also premiums for home owners insurance. What are the average premiums for stick built homes.

Thanks in advance.

My wifes employer picks up the majority of our policy John Deer insurance and it runs around $300 a month for a family.

If you stay with the same employer/plan they may have a national composite rate that is the same in all there locations. If that's the case then the rate would be the same.

If not, then you could see some savings. The question is how much is your employer contributing towards your current family plan? Who is the insurance company? Where in TN are you transferring to, and how old are you? As a licensed insurance professional, these are the types of things I'd need to know in order to best answer your question.

PM me if you like...

Well, a lot would depend on the actual company you work for.

At my firm, there are two BCBS plans offered, (one allows a little more flexibility). The company picks up the full tab for the basic plan (which is actually pretty good); if someone selects the alternate plan, there's a small amount the employee has to pay ($30 or $60 a month, I can't remember which). It actually gets somewhat complex explaining the whole arrangement at my firm; I'll just say that we don't pay anything, or very little.

I pay about $5.40 per thousand for homeowners insurance with Hartford, this include a replacement cost guarantee. My house is part brick, part siding; for insurance purposed, it's considered siding. It would be just a little bit less if it was all brick. I'm in a good fire rating zone, but not at the very top.

The question is how much is your employer contributing towards your current family plan?

Not sure how much they contribute but the employer recently started a new plan where they are paying our $2500 deductible for us by giving us a Visa card used only for medical bills. Their way of keeping our rates from going up again this year.

Who is the insurance company?
BCBS

Where in TN are you transferring to.
East TN.

How old are you?
Early 30's. Daughter is 14 with very high medication bills each month.

I pay about $140 a month for a family of three for health care. It is Aetna. Does it cover everything? Pretty much. I had major surgery, private room, stellar doctor and hospital. The bill came to about $15,000, and I paid about $80, and that included three doctor visits.

Oh, and the company paid for all of this after I had only worked there for less than four months. They also paid me my full pay through disability. That was nine weeks! The company also pays the disability premiums!

I had a pretty bad day at work, today, which has never happened before. Didn't matter. I won't be quitting anytime soon.

Wow that's great. Our insurance is great, it covers quite a bit 100% but it's just expensive to have it. My daughters monthly medication for one RX is now up to $3005 and we've only been paying $50 for the last 5 years she's been on it. Thank goodness my husbands work picked up our $2500 deductible for us even though it's gone with just 1 prescription already.

it's great that you ladies have good benefits through your employers. Danielle...Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida is a different company than Blue Cross of Tennessee.

i recommend you or your spouse talk with the HR department of the employer (you did imply your husband will be working for the same company up in TN, right?) They should be able to help, and provide info on this kind of thing.

If an employer has a unified plan for all state locations, it usually is based on their HQ location. For example, my wife's company here in FL provided medical coverage by Blue Cross/Anthem based out of Virginia because that's where they're headquartered. Your employer may have a Blue Cross plan from FL, or from another state. Blue Cross is not a national company. Each one in every state is a separate company.

Is it a big employer? If not, they may not have an HR department and you may need to find out who the agent is that services the account.

Employee benefits can seem complex, and it's difficult for me to fully comment without more info, but I hope that was a little bit helpful.

Thumbs up Low House Insurance

D: I can give you the Great news 1st. Our 2007 Quote went UP $5, to $340/year. 2006 was $ 335 / year with Travelers. Real estate agent dept set-up along with car insurance, never went to a office. Policy said $160,000 dwelling so does that make it $2 / thousand.
Yes medical is a challange every Jan with new choices. Company cut-backs even after one retires. Chattanooga is getting to be HQ for Bc/BS with $300 million complex on river west of downtown under construction. .....[/IMG]

I"m getting my non-resident license for TN very soon, and will be swapping my FL resident insurance license once we relocate. For the first few weeks I plan to submerse myself in the market learning everything about all the TN carriers.

Be happy to fully assist at that time, or just keep dispensing free advice on the forum
