Unusually Warm Weather?
Are you having a heat wave in TN? It is 94 in Pigeon Forge right now according to weather channel. That's 8 degrees hotter than it is on my pool deck in Orlando and 6 degrees hotter than the weather channel is reporting for Orlando.
Is this the usual temp for this time of year or are you having unusual weather?
How hot does it usually get in July? We were planning a trip then, but if it's going to be that hot, I may as well stay in Florida! LOL
Thanks!

It depends on who you ask. Al Gore would answer your question differently than I would.
I've lived in Tennessee my whole life, and I can remember summers in the 1980s and 90s that were much hotter, interspersed with some that were more mild.
If you can't handle heat and humidity, Tennessee in July probably isn't for you. It is very comparable to Florida.

It's hotter than usual, but it's not record-breaking. The highest temperature recorded for today in Knoxville was in 1930-something.
Plus, it still cools down here at night about 10 degrees cooler than in Orlando, at least that's what the Weather Channel is saying.

It's been somewhat hotter and much drier than normal for this time of year.
And, yes, it gets hot in July and August. Will it be 75 or 85 or 95 or 105? No one can say exactly; just assume it will be hot.
If you're coming in July, it would be better to head for the mountains rather than Middle or West Tennessee.

Thanks for your replies. Looks like we will be in Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia (I want to try to hike to the top of Mt. Rogers - We're trying for the Highpoints in each state.) If it's too hot, I know I won't make it.
I've wanted to go to this park for years to see the wild ponies, so even if I don't make it to the top, it will be worth it.
Then on to the TriCities area for a day or so before going down to Pigeon Forge for a couple of days at Dollywood and then on to Clayton, GA. where we have a cabin for a week. I'm going to pray for cooler weather! I don't think the cabin is air conditioned!

It's freakin' hot here. Opened the front door this morning to come to work and the heat and humidity took my breath! It is very overcast so I am sure the humidity upped the miserable factor 20 degrees. On a nice sunny day, we can deal with it ok.
I did a search on the Grayson Highland ponies and that is just amazing. Wild ponies.... thanks for the inadvertent tip

Today is the most humid day since I have been here but I think storms are in the forecast for this afternoon.

It's stormy here in Nashville. This should cool down all the tourist in town for the CMA Festival.

Our real heat wave starts next week. 90s+ most of the week according to TWC. Last week was wonderful: warm, sunny, and VERY LITTLE HUMIDITY!
We just had minor rain here in Nashville..which unfortunatly should bring the humidity back up
