info about middle tn
my husband and i are planning on moving to middle tn sometime in the near future. we are in our late 20's and have a baby and are looking for a more country setting with access to a city. we have looked at dickson, shelbyville, manchester, basically anything with a low cost of living that my husband could drive at the most 30-45 minutes to murfreesboro to work. could anybody give us any info on these areas, the pro's and cons and any info on a contemporary church would be great! thank you so much.

Well, you can certainly rule out Dickson. It's about fifty or sixty miles from Dickson to Murfreesboro (and that's if you go the secondary roads; if you traveled by the Interstate it's probably 75 miles). Personally I wouldn't enjoy the drive from Shelbyville or Manchester either; but at least they're doable. If I were you, I'd look a little closer in to Murfreesboro. There's some small towns in that general area; for example, Woodbury.

Depends quite a bit on exactly where you're starting from and where you're going. Say, roughly, 45 minutes as a minimum; more likely an hour.

I do the Shelbyville to Mboro drive everyday. Depending on where you live in Shelbyville and where you're going in Murfreesboro it's anywhere from 20-40 minutes. If you want a smaller town that's closer to Murfreesboro both Christiana and Bell Buckle are good choices.

my husband commuted to Nashville from Dickson for a couple of years. On a worst day it took him 45 minutes. It just depends on where you live inside Dickson and where in Nashville you work. I can usually get to Nashville in less than 30 minutes and I live off of Exit 172.

Rockvale used to be a nice little rural community, but M'boro's suburban sprawl is about to overtake it.

Also look into Tullahoma and Eagleville.
