We're also succeeding from the Union. Now we can print our own money and receive foreign aid.

good idea if you ask me.

I was told by a Building Contractor in East TN that they actually prefer hiring workers from outside of the state because the locals they have come in contact with are lazy and do shoddy work. Don't shoot the messenger.....just passing on the word.

there are many construction jobs here in knoxville, if your looking to stay close to shopping but yet considering country settings i would consider west of knoxville, possibly loudon county.

I am new here as well, and my husband luckily has a couple of trades. First off prior to moving he was going to go OTR for awhile, but luckily he didn't have too. There are plenty of jobs you see them posted everywhere from flipping burgers to Management positions. But as my husband applied from Florida online and fedexed resume after resume he landed a job after being here. Scary to say it does seem you are a better candidate if you live here. As for the schools our realtor was born and raised Tennessee; and is your typical highly educated individual, and she mentioned Sevier, and Jefferson to have better school systems, than other counties. There is a website you can go to to compare schools in the different areas from poverty levels to class room sizes. There are also posts where parents compliment or complain about a certain school or its system.

crack city USA
I think that just because Nashville has lots of drugs etc doesn't mean it is everywhere in the state. Most major cities have the same type of crime, etc. Maybe a smaller town would be better for you?

Big Sandy, TN
North West Tennessee and a little town called Big Sandy, TN. We are 2 hours from Nashville and Memphis, 1 1/2 hrs. from Paducah, Ky and Clarksville, TN. We have a K-12 school with approx. 450 students. You are 5 minutes from KY lake any where you live in this town. It is awesome. I have been here 15+ yrs. It is a great place in the "Bible belt" to raise children.

I am really puzzled by this statement. The only thing I can think of is that the contractor you talked to was not a native Tennessean.
