macklen is on a distinguished road
The best schools (no other county can compete) and lots of horsey folks can be found in Williamson County (Franklin is the county seat). There is a lot of good horse property in Rutherford County (Murfreesboro is the county seat) but I don't know about the schools. MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University) is there and THAT I do know about. Good university. I enjoyed it thoroughly back in 70's. Also, nearby, in Rutherford County, is Shelbyville, "The Walking Horse Capital of the World". I think you will find horse property in ANY county in Tennessee but Williamson is the wealthiest county in the state, therefore offering some pretty good perks and the most scenic ridges and hollows (hollers to the locals) to be found anywhere. If it is lake-front plus rural you want, try Center Hill Lake near Smithville or Dale Hollow Lake in Pickett County.

Thanks for your post. Franklin crime is 6&5 and Murfreesboro is 3&4. Franklin less sex offenders and Murfreesboro has about 5x the amount of sex offenders! Weird!
