Gay-Friendly in Eastern TN?
Hi,
We're looking for a gay-tolerant town or city in Eastern Tennessee. Does anyone have anything they can share about the Tri-Cities area or Knoxville?
Thanks

TN-Bound. That was rude and I am glad it was removed.

I can't help with the Tri-City area since my wife and I are just beginning our research of the area. However, you will be somewhat close to another area that's known for it's tolerance of various activities. It would be Asheville, NC, which is something around 60 miles stright south on I26. I know it's a different state, but for entertainment it's only a day-trip away.

You would have to be tolerant of no zoning, a lot of congestion on the roads, higher housing costs than you would expect, a large seasonal influx of tourists, a rising crime rate and, uhhh, drum circles, in Asheville, too. It is just a day trip away but it is through the mountains. I'm thinking Tennessee appeals to the original poster for all of the same reasons it appeals to anyone else, like low cost of living and many areas with natural beauty.
I'm intolerant...of traffic.

I don't understand, do you plan on running around with a flag and parade or making out in public?

I agree about the Tri-Cities area being one of most gay-friendly region in eastern Tennessee.
Chattanooga, IMO comes in second.
Most of the gay people I have known over the years have moved away to more gay-friendly cities like Atlanta, Miami-Dade, Asheville (NC), Houston, etc.

me and my pertner has lived in greeneville for 13 years, we have never had a problem about our relationship here, though greeneville is pretty much laid back, i like it here. most people know about us and all that we have met has come to accept us,

No gays please
A gay couple going to Tenn would be like Daniel in the Lion's den. Don't do it man, the bible thumpers will run you ragged and take away all yer fun.
And if you happen to take a few pops at the local bar with yer friends, then that is like a double wammy.
Look elsewhere, and save yerself years of grief.
