I moved to Amarillo three years ago from Ohio to go to graduate school after I was told that it's a great place to live. It's been a totally frustrating place to be for a single guy in his early 30s. I'm about to finish my master's degree, after a year's delay due to my obligation to my Uncle Sam (I just returned from my second tour in Iraq). I'm looking at potential jobs and I need to decide whether to move to a different city in Texas (San Antonio, Killeen, Abilene, San Angelo, El Paso), or just go out to the east coast. What are the cities that have a lot of single women? I appreciate any thoughts on staying in Texas.

If you're looking for single women I am assuming you have some inclination of eventually finding someone to build a life with and maybe even have a family. So, speaking from experience, I'd get my little lonely body as close to any family who I'd imagine I would want to be living near someday when I have kids as soon possible so my potential kids have my family to grow up with. There are single women everywhere....... There are TONS of threads here with people trying to move closer to family and are now stuck in the rut of her v. his relatives or moving with no jobs..... JMHO

Austin, Texas
San Antonio, Texas

Trust me, if you're from the Midwest, you'll have a bad time in cities like Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland...

Try one of the big Texas cities, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, El Paso, Dallas, Corpus Christi ( big city for Texas but smaller than El Paso).

I live in Abilene and I've lived in San Angelo, Midland, and Lubbock. I was in college in Lubbock and left after graduation so it's hard to say what it would be like out of college but trust me, don't go anywhere that's smaller than Amarillo! If you're looking for a lot of single women to date, it's much harder to do that in these smaller cities. Go to Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, or Houston. That's where you will meet more singles.

I would think the bigger the city, the more people, thus more single women. I would go to San Antonio, since it is the largest of the cities you mentioned.

I lived in Tyler, TX and Weatherford, TX for the preponderance of my 20's. I know exactly what you mean and I feel your pain acutely.

Don't be ashamed to get on Yahoo personals or a site like that. There is a steady stream of lonely young women in your area piped into your apartment that way.

Of the choices you listed above, you are probably looking for San Antonio. SA has pro sports, a large population, thriving nightlife, and an economy to support a lot of singles your age.

I'm agree, Austin and SA are good for singles, and they have a low unemployment rate

Largest female plurality: NY-NJ-CT urban area, 185,000 more single women than men.

Someone really hates you! Even folks in Amarillo don't think that

Germane to the current thread: That large, orange dot to the Southwest of the Austin sausage-fest is San Antonio.
