Same for me. Single A school in Georgia, 75 in my class. The EX inherited her old homeplace in the panhandle, toyed with moving my two youngest so they could be the "big frogs in the small pond." Had to threaten to take her to court, both would have opted to live full time with me. Less than 20 in a graduating class there. I think the culture shock might have been worse going the other direction.

Needless to say, she is still here in McKinney....

I can't imagine moving from a small town anywhere in America and transferring to a school with 3,000 students, let alone 6,000.
It depends on the person. For me it was no big deal. The dorm I lived in in college had more people than the entire town I grew up in. The average class I attended my freshman year had more people than my entire k-12 school system. Small town life was insular and sucky. Being at a larger place was great. Others I knew had a harder time adjusting - many were bigger fish in the small pond than me.

My kids are very young, but if I don't get transferred or whatever they will attend those Plano schools mentioned. There are many campuses, but most of the high schools are actually very compact in size. Vines, which is a high school, has only around 1300 students for 9 & 10th grade or about 600 per grade. My mom had more in her class at Abilene High back in the '60s than that.

The numbers above are old. Go to UIL.com for the latest enrollments. University Interscholastic League. Numbers I believe are just out.

My high school had 3,600 students. Most of the people at graduation I'd never seen in my life. It was no big deal for me. When I went off to college I was already prepared for large classes and having to work hard to get to know people.
