Basically they're widening a road in Austin and will now be charging you $2 a trip for the pleasure of driving in that new lane. Wave to the rich guy in the Mercedes who has money to burn as you sit in traffic!

I mean seriously how did we get to the point as a State where this nonsense is happening?

Anyone who thinks this kind of thing is ridiculous should know that Perry is the one who has the power to take TxDot to task over this stuff and has sat back and done nothing about it.

But Governor Perry is doing something...promoting toll roads instead of stopping the diversion of gas taxes.

Are you referring to this project in Dallas?

The last gasoline tax increase was in what.....1991? You're right, absolutely no reason why they should need more money now, costs haven't increased a red cent in the past 19 years!

Sounds like the Katy Tollway on the west side of Houston. I'd be glad to pay $1 to fly down it if the main lanes are jammed up. And you can feel free to wave to me, too.

If you don't have a tolltag they will 'manage' to rob you blind.

If you carpool from 5-11AM or 2-8PM down those lanes it's free; you don't need an EZ tag.

The new lanes that levy a charge will take up some of the traffic which clogs the older free lanes, so maybe that will help. I don't like it either, but sometimes it's worth $2 to get out of an interminable jam.
