Wow you just broke my BS meter. How much will Frito-Lay's CEO donate to Perry's re-election campaign? That seems to be a pretty common theme with the TEF.

Classic case of putting the cart before the horse. Have a well run state, with low taxes, natural beauty, healthy well educated citizens and the businesses will come.

Letting the state fall apart and throwing tax payer money at a few corporations to bribe them to bring jobs here is a really weak approach.

So....he bribed them?

This is nothing more than a scheme to transfer tax dollars to someone's corporate buddy and it's been going on for a long time.

Up in Sherman a few years ago, that fund paid Tyson $3 million dollars to open a meatpacking operation in the old Oscar Mayer plant. What was never mentioned during the backslapping and gratulating each other over the coming jobs is that Tyson already OWNED THE BUILDING because they'd bought out Oscar Mayer! In other words, we the taxpayers funded the renovations necessary to convert the plant from wiener production to meat packing.

What a sweet deal for Tyson!

Frisco also spent 1 million to attract T-mobile, which moved many jobs out of the state of Washington to Texas. Using government funds to attract and retain businesses in Texas to create and retain jobs is better than handing out cash. Frisco also did similar things with the stonebriar shopping centre....a major source of sales taxes.. This strategy allowed Frisco to become one of the fastest growing cities in Texas and surpassed Plano..

I don't care how much revenue it generates. PepsiCo cleared $6 BILLION in INCOME last year. They can pay their own damn way.
You're right. Nickel and dime the taxpayers of the area when they can well afford it themselves. Why must they suck us dry when they are living high on the hog? Why?

Do they not make enough money already?

So we have no money for new roads despite us paying a giant road tax. Yet we do have money to hand to private corporations as a bribe to get them to develop here.

The same governor who just stopped modest funding for home care services for seriously handicapped children and just cut what tiny funding there was mental health care just took that same money and handed it to Frito Lay, over a million dollars of it. Seriously how does he do it, I couldnt look myself in the mirror if I did that.

I mean I'm at a loss for words. I need to move because if the majority of the States citizens agrees with what he's doing I cant reconcile myself to that.
