4 major metropolitan areas aren't majority white.

Houston is one of those 4.

Los Angeles is another.

San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose is the last one of the four.

On the real, Atlanta is two times ahead of the larger Texas competitor. Nothing wrong with that, but wow- Atlanta I have been underestimating it this whole time.
you have the same for hispanics and asians ? Because DC and Atlanta are really ahead about blacks, but numbers would be interesting for others.

For asians it's almost the same numbers, no real behemoth.
But for Hispanics they're really ahead.

One can tell the diversity of Houston and Dallas in contrast to DC and Atlanta. For one, we all know that there's not a major metro besides Miami that has Hispanic-majority population, and we all know that Houston and Dallas aren't lacking in the African American population. One can conclude that these two metros are most diverse in the country and offer great opportunities for everyone.

very interesting, indeed. i always knew that the majority of america's black population lived in the south, i had just always assumed the number was much larger than that. i had no idea so many blacks lived in the midwest and the west

i was also surprised to find that texas' black population was larger than georgia's (as of 2007)....although, texas as a whole is a much larger state, so you couldn't really say that it's "blacker" than georgia

Well the midwest got their fair share during the great migration.

As for the west, the concentrations are in large cities like LA, while in the South, AA are more spread out.

And Texas has two large cities with large black populations, plus south east Texas has large black populations too, so that might be the reason why Texas has more black people than Georgia. More than half is centered around Atlanta, while in Texas there are many areas with huge populations
