Then Austin would probably fit them better. So gauche!

Austin should be its own state. That is how different it is from the other major cities in Texas.
No one in Austin considers the DFW area as anything to copy. In Austin we use the DFW as an example of what not to become.

Austin thinks its more different than it actually is.

I wont argue that Austin is unique, but dont over do it. Austin has lots in common with other parts of Texas.

To be honest, I really like the way San Antonio, El Paso, Fort Worth, & Corpus Christi handle business they are quite humble cities.

DFW is a great example to follow. I don't see what's wrong with it. Economically it's a very prosperous metropolitan, it's growing, and it's darn right aesthetically beautiful.

I honestly (from going to school in Austin) do think Austin is trying to copy DFW a lot more than it gives credit for. Dallas is perhaps the most liberal city in Texas, but Austin shows forth it more and gets that credit for being something it's not the best at.

With an 80 billion dollar economy, compared to Houston's 403 billion and Dallas 380 billion, Austin can't be it's own state- none of these cities can. You are making false accusations, because Austin needs the rest of the state more than Texas needs Austin. (Minus the state government)

Yes it's unique for Texas, and that's a great thing. I think all the transitional cities in Texas are developing their own characteristics now. And that's something to be proud of- making an identity for ones self.

However you make it sound like DFW is a bad example to follow. It certainly is not, and neither is Houston.

D/FW beautiful? Dallas the most liberal city in Texas?

What's wrong with C-D these days?

Other than those two misleading statements your post was spot on.

Compare elected officials in Dallas County to the supposed liberal oasis of Travis County.

My part of Dallas is beautiful!

You're right, I linked to Austintude instead of the original Austitude (I guess more recently they decided adding the "n" in there was more accurate?)
So which spelling is more correct?
Speaking of, the Austonian building name drives me nuts!

I never noticed that dramatic a difference, sorry. And yes I lived central, not suburbs.

While I dont particularly find it beautiful here, the remark about Dallas being the most liberal city in Texas isnt completely out from left field.

The Bay Area Center for Voting Research named Dallas the most liberal city in Texas. So even if you disagree, the fact that a team of Political Scientist thought so says something.
