Are you in the DFW area by chance? That place has gotten insane to drive around compared to 10 years ago!
Of course, LA always makes it in the top 5 road rage cities.

Yeah, I am in DFW...quite telling from my post huh...
It really reminds me of LA in the 80's...kinda makes me sad. Because I do not want to see it go that way.

As for the road rage and the drivers, it has not always been this bad. Things have changed since more and more people have moved to this area. You have people that have moved here from other parts of the country and the world that never drove before. Plenty of people move here from places like NYC or Chicago that have never driven and now they are. Couple that with being in a place that is unfamiliar and it is a recipe for all kinds of problems. Then throw in the people that move here from a foreign country that are just learnig to drive, don't know their way around, our rules are different AND they can not read English. So it is easy to end up w/ the conditions we have now and it can happen and does in other areas of the country.

Hi Mom,We have something in the works now, and are just praying escrow closes this time!! Right now we are currently in Roanoke, renting, which is fine as we are able to look and see what areas best suit us.
So far I am happy here though, my son loves his school and the weather is nice.

That's fair...though do you always compare Texas to California or do you judge it on its own merits? The Californians who are always comparing Texas to CA are the most miserable here IMHO.

Texas and CA are two very different states and it's not fair to compare them to each other. Every state is going to be different, you'd think people would know that going in. I get tired of the Texas bashers.

No, I don't do comparisions. What for? They're two different places.

Why would you move way out to someplace like Plano and expect it to feel like home?

Ummmmmmmm because I live here and have family? lol I went through a nasty divorce this past year and basically had no where to go. I wanted to get out of southern Oregon where we had lived for 3.5 years.
I wanted to be somewhere completely different, and it is. It'll just take time I guess.

I grew up in Texas. But I've been in Cali since '99. Texas will always be "home". There are wonderful things about both states! I love the homestyle warmth you get from strangers when you're in Texas.. and at the same time I enjoy the uptodate styles and laid back attitudes of Californians. Sometimes when I go to Texas for a visit I ask myself why Texans just don't choose to advance with the times. Why they still choose to wear the boots and tight jeans as everyday wear... why they insist on emphasizing that twang when they talk and say "y'all" with every other breath... and then I remind myself... that's what makes Texas... Texas and I wouldn't change it for the world.

You've been out of the state too long, hon. You're questioning what makes the state special. But at least you're remembering that it IS special!

I swear I haven't seen anyone wearing boots and tight jeans around here in years (not since I was a kid). Heck, I hardly ever see cowboy hats. I guess I'm not in the right part of the state.
