Sometimes when I go to Texas for a visit I ask myself why Texans just don't choose to advance with the times. Why they still choose to wear the boots and tight jeans as everyday wear... why they insist on emphasizing that twang when they talk and say "y'all" with every other breath... and then I remind myself... that's what makes Texas... Texas and I wouldn't change it for the world.

LOL, where do you go when you visit....Billy Bob's? I live in Dallas and I *never* see that.

I saw more boots and jeans or whatever else w/ them last night at one place than you will see in a year on a normal basis and they were ALL worn by women. Literally over half the people in this one place had on boots if not more out of the 1000 or so that were there. No, I was not at a rodeo. I was at Neath the Wreath in PLANO! It is put on by the Junior League of Plano every year as a Holiday Shopping fair. Totally awesome to go to pick up gifts or things for yourself. Seriously though there were TONS of women in boots and you know darn well they ONLY wear them for certain events and not every day. Oh, I did see one "blast from the past" Big D hairdo, lol.

I haven't actually seen much of it either......yet. All the shoe stores have tons of women's boots though. I don't mean cowgirl boots.

Big hair has been on the rise for a few months now if you watch much TV.

I think the boots are more widespread on the ranches and in the rodeos, obviously. I know women who wear boots but only as an occasional thing. I have a young adult friend who wears them from time to time but she didn't grow up on a ranch or anything, she grew up in the city. Same for another friend of mine. My little stepdaughter has a pair and I've bought some for my own daughter whenever she was a child. I've been actually meaning to get my own for years now, just haven't done it yet. It's now widespread in the city but I do see it from time to time.

Could the same people who voted in such a way as to make Cali a undesirable place to live do the same in a new state?Or it could be those who from Cali prefere other laws of more free states want to move there to be with people more their mindset...maybe. I'm just saying what a few Texans told me....

A while ago I read a article about natives in Nevada being unhappy with Cali transplants because they started voting no smoking in bars regulations and such.

glad for the photo comments btw,it was a eye opening experience to travel like that.

cheers
LionKing you are Kewl, my Wife and I Moved from Calif. for many reasons including the ones you mentioned, SHe spent 15yrs in AUstin, and i am a Native Calif. Boomer, what i can relate is i hate the way the State Changed, it was great until all the Liberal crap legislated way too much and State Gov't Grew to a Monster of State workers- and its growing! I love Texans and what they stand for , including RON PAUL ! I hope Texans can hold on to there ideals ,customs, and way of Life. I like being able to carry a rifle in my Pickup. We now live in no Arkansas, but are considering a small farm in Texas, or New Mexico . (no pun intended) .

Who knows if it will become like California? What will happen is the people who currently live in Texas will vote their conscience and what will happen will happen. That's the basis of free will and democracy.

Well, to be honest you shouldn't knock the experience of a smoke free environment.

As a Californian living in Texas, it would be nice to be able to go out enjoy a meal or even a drink and not come home with a bronchial infection!

Truly a smoke free environment is an enjoyable and Healthy place to be!
