Are you for real? If so, oh gawd. THIS is the type self-superior attitude/outlook which causes many native Texans to have such a negative opinion of many northern/California transplants.
The sheer lunacy of it, given the circumstances of why so many are now IN Texas, would be the stuff of Saturday Night Live skits, if not for the fact so many actually embrace it sans a clue as to the irony of it all. Actually, un-intended satire might be the better description...
Texas needs a "long-overdo" make-over, huh? This sentiment patronizingly trumpeted by those who move to Texas because they have fouled their own nest. THEN, try and make it into what they high-tailed it out of in record numbers, to begin with...
*laughing a bit* I kinda wonder...what if it suceeds? That is, what if those northerners/Californians with such attitudes actually DO remake it into a carbon-copy of the land they originally ruined and fled?
Where will they move to next?

Exactly, CC. And I very much want to add that you are the epitome, in many ways, of those Californians who move to Texas and embrace it as your new home. And all that implies. That is to say, the type which is welcomed with true Texas/Southern hospitality for those very reasons.
I realize that, being a Californian yourself, it probably puts you in a difficult position when the Texas vs. California "wars" flare up. But I hope you will keep in mind that the return fire in reply to the unwarranted attacks on Texas, do not apply to you, nor those new Texans who embrace as you do.
That is the best I can put it. You have proven yourself "one of us" quite a few times.
Thank you, CC!

Umm, no. If you want California so much that you think Texas needs to be remade over into its image, there's a simple solution. Go back to California and sleep in the bed you made. I'm sure you'll find it very comfortable. We, on the other hand, do NOT need to be "made over" so that we have to sleep in the bed that YOU made.
This has little to do with conservative or liberal and everything to do with arrogance - the arrogance that moves from one place to another and then proceeds to try to turn the new place into the place they came from because what they're familiar with is just SO much better.
Fortunately, most Californians that I've met that move here don't have this attitude and cringe when they hear one of their fellow California ex-pats expressing it.

CAnine, I wish I could help you so this won't happen, but I have to worry about AR. We are conservative but democrats (some anyway)
I do know several people from Ca who are loyal Texans and share your values, my daughter and her husband as starters.
