Thumbs up Manufacturing gains bolster Texas recovery

[LEFT]Combined with continued growth in exports, increased manufacturing is helping to stabilize the economic recovery in Texas, according to a monthly report by a private equity firm.
In September, increases in two key indices signaled a return of Texas manufacturing to levels not seen in the past two years, the report from Houston-based Sigma Bleyzer said. The production index compiled by the Dallas branch of the U.S. Federal Reserve moved into positive territory for the first time since late 2009, and the Houston Purchasing Managers Index improved by 1.1 percent, demonstrating clear growth in factory activity.
Manufacturing output in Texas is now only 1 percent below its late-2008 peak
