You should add El Paso county to the Blue State lists. EP Times states that 31k voted straight Dem. while 16K voted straight GOP.

Election of Jerry Brown in California = good news for Texas I think.More middle-class flee California to go there and invest, more small businesses too.

Only time El Paso ever went for a GOP candidate was GWB for Governor back in the '90s

Which is rather alarming.... have to wonder what many of these people were thinking (or not thinking, rather). Two years later and look what we've got. Don't appreciate his extreme condescending arrogance every time he sets foot in the state either.

How is he "arrogant" in your opinion? I think that many of us bought in to the idea that we were voting for a "camelot" reincarnation, somebody that would fight for the underdog and communicate in the way that reagan did. he has been a huge disappointment in many ways, even moreso to the progressive base that campaigned for him and propelled him into office. He better do something in the next 2 years for this progressive base or else he will pay the consequences. I personally hope that Hillary challenges him in the primary.

Bill White was a good smart candidate with a good resume, but had the misfortune of running against a pigheaded ill-mannered governor who would not debate with him and a banner Repub year in an overwhelmingly RED state. When the Dem base is motivated, there is no reason why Tex won't be competitive in a few election cycles.
Yep. Even the democrats in these blue states had a tough time in this election cycle. In Illinois, a republican won the senate seat. I believe it was Barack's senate seat. A republican almost won the governorship as well.

I hope not. I don't want the liberal voters from California fleeing to Texas because California is going into craphole after they voted for Democrat. That would be so hypocrite.

But yes, Texas is definitely RED HOT. Go GO! Haha

According to this map there have been large numbers of people moving to Texas from California, Florida and the liberal North Eastern states, and that continues today from what I see in the discussion forums.

Map: Where Americans Are Moving - Forbes.com

Texas could eventually become a blue state. Rick Perry did not win by much even though he had the advantage of this being a huge reactionary year due to the poor economy.
