In the El Paso forum there are a couple of threads currently running discussing LUCKY BOY HAMBURGERS. I remember them well, but don't know how widespread the chain was. The buns were humongous and what made them unique, IMO, was the heavy emphasis on ketchup, as opposed to other things like mustard or mayo.

To me the perfect hamburger is a hand made patty cooked on the grill with a slice of cheese, pickles, a few slices of bacon, and mustard on a grilled bun.

Just plain with grilled onions and a fried egg on top.

First choice is hand made with a dash of onions/salt/pepper directly in the meat then grilled and the cheese melted on it before it leaves the grill. Fresh bun, spread with mustard and a squirt of ketchup, a few dill pickle slices on the bottom and maybe a slice of lettuce on the top, but not required.

Second choice would be Fuddruckers with cheese and same treatment as above.

Third choice would be Whataburger with cheese, no tomato, no onion.

Alternatives would be with mushrooms and swiss and on rare occasions with bacon.

That's about it.
