Default I can tell you about Midlothian Texas

I can tell you all about Midlothian Texas

This town was small until about 5 or 6 years ago ..then it just boomed...we had to build several schools and several housing additions ..we finally even got a fancy Wal Mart (A first with a new design even) ...This town thinks they are all rich folks ..because the cost of housing and land is insane (well to us anyway) it went from rent from about 500.00 a month or 600.00 for a one bedroom ..to a whopping 800.00 now for even an apartment (old ones at that ) ...even duplexes run about 750.00 to 800.00 ..but those are all new ones that rent that high ...Houses run about 1,100.00 a month or more ..(for even the small ones)

There are more empty houses for sale than there are rent houses ...so unless you plan to buy you may be in a rut or stuck with a duplex or an apartment..

Here is our local paper link
Midlothian Mirror (broken link)

Click on Classifieds and you will get an idea of work in our area ..(not much for sure) ..

TXI,Chapparell Steel Plant ,Midtex ,Toys R Us jobs etc...you will have to go through a place called
EXPRESS PERSONNEL 507 N. HWY 77, # 516 WAXAHACHIE TEXAS., 923-1780
Which is another town about 15 miles away from here ...

There really are no jobs here so most people drive to Dallas or Arlington or Irving to get the better jobs (also better paying ones)

Last year they finally built a freeway around our town ..because 287 used to go right through town ..it has been dead ever since ..so the smaller businesses are not doing so great now .....BUT this town is still a fast growing area ...City people are running out the cities to live in our town ...there is still some country left here as it is about 1 hour from Dallas ,well 30 minutes maybe to Downtown ..but traffic makes it over an hour one way drive ....
Houses are still going up and more Schools are already being planned to built soon ...
Its still a small town mentality here though and overall its a nice place to live ..not much to do ...(no roller rinks, movie theatres,or game places, malls etc ) But you can go to Waxahachie to do those things ..or Cedar Hill or Duncanville (which are other towns close by ) ... ...

Not much crime for a town of about 14,000 now .......small crimes mostly ...
It is also a dry area (no alchohol sold here) it is about 30 miles to get it ...
No bars except we do have a few restaurants that are considered private clubs so you can have a Daquari or Margarita or a beer while eating ..
We have Lots of Churchs all denoms ....and a huge Cowboy Church just a few miles away in Waxahachie ...where there is also an Expo Center where you can buy country stuff ....... ...

Who do you call if your interested in buying a house here ?..
Moderator cut: advertising
As far as Apartments I would recommend Ridgeway Apartments 972-775-8326
1330 Pecan Ridge Drive or Turtle Cove Apts 972-723-8642 1600 Nth 9th (Turtle Cove is the only one that has three bedrooms) they are about the best taken care of ones ..although they may be a little high ...still the cleanest and best kept (lawns etc) ......
If they dont have anything let me know I know more people who sale and rent houses etc ..

Hope to see you in our town soon ..bring money to build businesses lol ..we need something for kids to do (Theaters or Bowling or something) ...

We would probably think about it -- but those concrete plants put out some pretty nasty air, don't they? Not exactly good neighbors?

But we would probably like the church of all demons.

There are more empty houses for sale than there are rent houses in Midlothian because of all the health problems in this town. This town has 3 cement kilns & 1 steel mill within a 3 mile radius. They burn hazardous waste, tires, or whatever they can say is recycling. People are getting sick after they move here. I am one of them along with my dogs. Our government supports big industry and therefore fighting these plants to stop emitting all these toxics does not work. It is just easier to put their homes up for sale and move out.

Soooooo . . . why don't yall get a list together of the Corporate owners, plant managers, and all those locally who help make the mess possible and give them some of the special recognition they deserve? Like maybe dump dirty baby diapers on their front porch? Sort of like -- "here is some crap for you for all the crap you do for (to) us."

We are thinking about building a home in the Rosebud subdivision next year. Are people getting sick from the pollutents in that area of town too? Are people getting sick from being outside or does it come indoors too to irritate?

We lived in Southwest dallas county for years and we were sick with the crud, bronchitus, pneumonia quite a bit. It got worse when we moved to Duncanville and feel it was due to the air flow from Midlothian, Ennis and Waxahatchie combined and that I felt it came directly over my neighborhood.

I talked to someone from Downwinders At Risk-Home Page
He told me that the kelms are spewing toxic dust into the atmosphere and it is traveling on a north western course that takes it over to Arlington and beyond. Though he said it dissapates as the further it goes . He also said I was not alone in Duncanville how sick my family got and he had the same things before with different families. If you look up my post, you will see what I have been talking about.
What you need to understand that there are people who live out there and never get sick because they have good immunities but then there are people like my family and do.....
The last time we went to visit our family in Midlothian, my brother in law was showing off his new car to us. It had a film of white dust all over it. He said it had rained. When it rains here on my side of town, it doesn't have a film of white dust on it after the first rain. We noticed how all the cars were covered in this. Now don't get me wrong, when it rains my car gets dirty but it isn't white on it, it is dirt...... He happens to live in Longbranch....

I love that side of town, the people there are friendly and I always felt at home where ever I went, however I can't live that way.... The person who said that the goverment is in this... Yes I agree and the only way to get things to change is to elect new officials across the board and that would start by getting rid of Joe Barton .

I've lived in Midlothian since 1982 when there was only one stop light in town before all this big boom of growth. The cement plants and the steel plant were here long before me and I have never noticed my health any worse for it. In my opinion, if you want to live in the neighborhood with them, don't be raising a fuss over them, they have been here alot longer than we have. When they started up out here this was a RURAL area and not all these neighborhoods that have sprung up around here.

hmmm, maybe I can sort of baseline this for you?

From what I follow the folks that do have a problem with the plants are not upset about the plants themselves, or even who was there first. The problem is the plants are crapping on everyone else around them.

If the plants were good neighbors and not crapping on everyone else's lawn, there would be no problem. The plants do not own the lawns they are crapping on.

If the plants wanted to own the huge foot print they dump across, there would probably be no conflict. But since they only want to own a small portion, but dump into the huge area of common air, there is a problem.

The whole matter could be cured by the plants not dumping into the air.

Maybe this is like the restaurants that have smoking sections or outright bans. The smoke is the problem. It does not really matter who sat down first, or that someone has been smoking for years. The smoke does not stay at the table or in the lungs of the folks that generate it.

I moved to Midlothian from Missouri one year ago. We picked Midlothian because of its hometown feel, friendly people, and quality of life.

I can walk out my door and see one of the cement plants. I live in a middle class neighboorhood. I have had not a single health problem since I moved here. No breathing problems, nothing.

The whole idea of the cement plants causing respitory problems is blown way out of proportion.

Smile Rosebud Subdivision in Midlothian, Texas

I thank everyone for comments previously. Was wondering if anyone out there lives in the Rosebud housing subdivision in Midlothian. How they like the neighborhood, etc.
Seems like the majority of people really enjoy living in the Midlothian area. We are getting excited about moving to Texas. We are in Topeka, Kansas now;just retired.
Any information about the area will be greatly appreciated.
