Default Private/Boarding Hi-Schools in Texas

Some friends recommended this forum to me. I am a single mom in a small town in China. My son is a hi-school sophomore, desiring to go to the U.S. in fall 2011 to continue his hi-school education. He chose to go to Texas as the start of his American dream. I am not rich but I am prepared to sell my house to support him. We are looking for a academically reputable high school with a safe, friendly and supporting environment, preferably Christian faith based. Given that my son will be the only one from our family in the U.S., private boarding schools will be more suitable. We are also considering private day schools that offer foster family stay options. We are open to all locations - Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio. Since we don't know anyone from Texas, we would be very much appreciative if someone could help us out by recommending some of the good schools in their areas in Texas.

Brentwood Christian School in Austin seems to have a high number of students from Asia that go the private --foster families stays. You might try looking them up.

I would look at TMI in San Antonio as well as Brook Hill. There really isn't that many good boarding schools in Texas so you may need to look at the foster family option more in depth.

I would check out St. Stephens in Austin. Academically excellent with a high number of Asian boarding students.

St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin is considered the top boarding school in Texas based upon test scores. Its a great learning environment set in the beautiful hill country of Texas and it has a very diverse student body. Very expensive though - about $44,000 per year for your son.....although you may qualify for financial aid. www.sstx.org

Good luck with your search.
