Nope. These are not chinch bugs and no ticks. I sprayed Ortho Termite Killer last Saturday.....and lo and behold, no more termites (at least no more mud tubes on top). As an added bonus, no more FIRE ANTS either!!!

Great job. I'll try that. We have fire ants. They covered my kitchen area two days ago. What a mess getting rid of them and having to clean the whole area over again.

If you have lots of deer around you'll probably have lots of ticks........that is my experience. I consider them more of a nuisance but I did have a patient about 10 years ago with severe neurological symptoms that if I remember right had Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick Fever. I've not heard of it since and this was uncomfirmed (I think).

When I was growing up we dipped our dogs regularly but now I think the collars work pretty good. I never saw any ill effects on our animals (even the deer we killed.....and they would be absolutely covered on their undersides as the hair is thinner).

I've had them all on me as where I grew up was very wild country..........ticks, redbugs, chiggers....whatever. Just need to examine yourself when you've been out in the bush and it helps to keep the grass cut short and brush cut back IMO. Besides, I could always feel them little pests crawling on my skin and get them off before thay would find a place to attach . I'd much rather get bit by a bloodsucking critter than get something like poison ivy.......now thats is some true misery.

Default Fire Ants

Bound for Texas,

I thought you still live in California. The last I heard was that fire ants have only been seen as far West as Arizona. Is this what your critter looks like?

Normally, if you have fire ants in your house, look outside around your foundation and you will see a dirt tunnel going up the wall. Heck, a long time ago I was sitting on my bed on the second floor and a fire ant bit me! I just called Mr. Raid and the rest was history.
