Is there adequate public transport in Abilene? Right now I'm living in St. Louis and the Metro can get you anywhere you need to go, about 20 hours a day. I might be moving to Abilene in a little over a month and I don't know how thorough the public transit system is down there.

From what I can tell from online information, the public transit system in Abilene only operates something like 8-4 with no service at all on Sundays, at night, or holidays. And it's all bus, no trains/light rail, no call-a-ride service. Is this accurate?

I've read different things in different places, but I don't know anybody in Abilene who uses the public transportation so I'd like to ask people who actually live there...

Thanks!

I don't live there, but I do visit once a month with my job. Your description sounds very accurate. I would not move to Abilene and depend on public transportation.

If you're going to rent an apartment/house, you should check out the route map on the citylink website to make sure you get a place that is within walking distance of a bus stop.

Thanks. It actually says 9-4 in another place, which is why it's helpful to ask a person.

Once you get here and know people, it will be impossible for you to take the bus. I try to use it to save money. However, I am nearly always picked up by someone I know, and they will not take "no" for an answer when I protest and tell them I want to take the bus. We live on a corner with a bus stop.
