I'm originally from California, been in Texas going on 5 years. Proud of my California roots, but love being a Texan. And in my opinion it won't happen, Texas has a lot more pride and wisdom than some of these other states that have allowed the bad Californians to take over (no offence). I say the bad ones, because there are many great Californians who have nothing to do with the shape the state is in now, growing up there it was so much better. I pray they find a way to return to the great state it once was, and in the meantime Texas will remain great now and forever.

The state isnt in bad shape at all. California is doing quite well for itself. Economically, they are doing better than we are at the current moment due to the lag in oil.

Maybe better than Houston but didn't the last figures show Texas outgrowing California by a significant margin

I think the only thing wrong with California is how expensive it is there and maybe if you are conservative, the politics.

Statistically, Texas and California are already 2 sides of the same coin. Politically, if Texas continues to grow the way that it is (the major metro areas sucking people in), it will probably go that way too. Population density is very highly correlated with how an area votes.
