Default Looking to Retire in Texas

Currently live in Alaska and would like to move to a warmer climate with the same open attitude. Looking for a medium sized town 100k to 200k, broadband internet, friendly people, Costco or something similar. I guess I'm not too picky.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Take a look at the Texas Travel Guide to check out your options. Then on a google map draw a north/south line something like from Amarillo to Midland or Abilene to San Antonio to Corpus Christi. Compare cities and towns with your travel guide and choose anything that satisfies.

Don't worry, it'll be warmer. And if you like Texas, the attitude will be okay.

You might look into here in San Angelo. Good midsize town of around 109k (2010 census). Low cost of living and we have Walmart, Best Buy, Target, etc. Plus some really good BBQ places too. The weather isnt bad either. The summers get hot but the humidity is low. This town has all the amenities but still retains a laid back slower pace. Lots of nice lakes to fish in and beautiful parks along the Concho river. I love it here. And yes, broadband internet too. lol

I second New Braunfels. It's probably half the size you are looking for, but it is a wonderful town at a pleasant distance from the big city.
