We are in the Bible Belt so religion is a big deal but it's not something we usually talk about. It's personal if you get my drift.

Personal huh? So why was that the State Legislature made Bible literature education mandatory and why is it that the State Textbook commission is packed with religious conservatives trying to edit their beliefs into public school text books?

I figured I would draw some fire on that one.

I believe in private schools....thus endeth the problem for me and mine. You'll have to find your own way in dealing with the the conservatives.

(Dont want to offend)

The way we see it (Or hear it) is, country lovers, very religious, anti-gay, sit and watch NASCAR with a beer (Or 10) in hand. (I know the next bit is wrong) But we also see most of Texas as trailer park folk.

Is it close? Way off? little bits?

Im not sure but id like to find out how badly we have stereotyped Texas and its people without trying to offend your good selves.
Close.

But the beer comes in singles, 6 packs, 12, or 24 packs/cases -- not usually 10. Minor point of order, but for us that can count, we tend to keep track.

As far as trailer park folk. Yes, we aspire to be. A man has to have his dreams, yunno. We are presently saving up our empty beer cans to trade for a partial down-payment on a lightly used 30 year old trailer at the local park.

See our photos at >>>

Welcum to My Trailer Park!

Apart from the bit about king and queen ripping us dry, it is now the parliament the coalition. Other than that, you are pretty much spot on.

We are going through change big time, were back with the Tories who ****ed us last time and are doing so again.

Immigration is at an all time high, yet it's too late to put a cap on it and we have more Muslims living here than you would care to imagine.

Oh I forgot the car bit, we have the same cars as America.

My point about Texas is, everything we hear and everything we get from other Americans is the stuff I hear and interpret Texas to be. Alabama is also in this category.

I didn't mean to offend anyone but if you care to slag me off, I really don't care. It shows your ignorance for doing so.

I have never been to Texas and so it way a mere question I put to you, the beat answer was one of be first (way way off) that's all I needed, not some sarcastic two hat picking a fight.

If other Americans say Texas is so bad, then why do people keep moving here in droves? Texas was the fastest growing state over the past decade. Seriously you should visit Texas to shatter those stereotypes. You would probably be surprised at how friendly, accommodating, and sophisticated Texans can be.

So you are a bigot against the white blue-collar class you associate with trailer parks?

Well in Texas, you'll find a lot of immigrants in trailer parks if that matters a lot to you, they aren't all "rednecks".

Texas is a big state. Some cities in Texas aren't very religious at all. Austin and El Paso are very liberal - left leaning. Lots of gays live in Texas - check out Dallas some time, or Austin, El Paso.

I don't take offense to your post because you're only asking simple questions and I guess you're just curious. Many do get defensive, but that's okay for them. Yes, Texas has many, many mobile homes as do many of the southern states. You wouldn't catch me living in one in tornado alley. No how, no way.

Actually, Pennsylvania has the most trailer parks, per capita, than any state in the U.S. with West Virginia coming in at a close second. [LEFT]
Did you know the first trailer home originated from England where they are called “caravans”? The attached photo is of a caravan park on the cliffs above Beer, Devon, England. I'm not trying to make you feel bad because I'm sure you wouldn't be defensive either. What does any of it matter?

With all due respect, I hope Texas never causes such an uprising about college tuition raised as did England. Oh my. You guys should pay for education what we have to pay over here. It's astronomical. If one doesn't like the costs, don't go. It isn't necessary to fight and "attack" Prince Charles' vehicle. My gosh! He's royalty!

Yep, lots of beer-drinking NASCAR watchers here, but they're not all that way. Personally, I despise to be around those who choose to drink alcohol.

I only know a few people who portray they're VERY religious, so I'm wondering if that's a facade. Geez, we can't even pray in our schools anymore. I love the Lord, but I'm not going to stuff it down anyone's throat. (I'm not a Texas but a southern Californian)

Anti-gay ... No. Actually, I'm surprised Texas isn't. I don't condone the lifestyle, but to each his or her own.

I love, love the rural country life and again, I'm from California. I will never live in a city again.
