Kinkaid in Houston is a prestigious and non-religious private school, but it's hard to get into.

The Village School in West Houston is good, too. If you want to try a Catholic school, you should check out John Paul II Catholic School. I went there for a few years.

Based on what I've heard, some of the best of the best, "finest" private schools seem to be members of Houston Private Schools - HAIS - Houston Area Independent Schools. There are many other good private schools around beyond those, but many of the ones listed here seem to be among the most prestigious, oldest, well-regarded, expensive!, and all that. I found another website with a more complete guide to Houston area private schools, but most of its links are dead. Don't worry, I've already sent a strongly-worded email to complain!
