I meant that's the cuisine that stands out the most to me. I'm one of the first people telling people on these forums how diverse the culinary scene in Houston is. What I mean is that if someone was visiting Texas and asked me where they would find the best soul food, I'm going to tell them Houston. If someone asks where they'll find the best Tex-Mex, I'm going to send them to San Antone.

I had Taco Cabana yesterday and it was very good. Maybe not the most authentic, but definitely better than Taco Bell.

It used to be a lot better. Try mama margies instead. Its quality is more like the "old" TC.

Anybody ever tried Taco Palenque? They're pretty cheap in quality, but they're perfect for after-the-club food. They're cheese quesadillas are so buttery and flavorful. The larger size comes with a cup of guacamole and a PACKET of sour cream....that's what you call ghetto Tex-Mex

Why anyone in a big Texas city eats at Taco Cabana is very strange to me. I can think of 20 plus taco trucks in Austin alone, where you can get much more delicious Tex-Mex food, and in San Antonio, you can get a better taco at any of literally hundreds of dives, where people actually make their food with care and know what they are doing. In New York, I would eat Taco Bell - no Taco Cabana up there in my experience - but in Texas, never!

Yuck, I hate taco cabana. Perhaps its because the one I went to was really dirty. But seriously, why would u go for that generic stuff when it is so easy to find authentic cheap mexican food in texas? As for taco bell, I was so annoyed that they don't put tomatos on their tacos.

As someone once explained to me, Taco Bell shouldn't even come up in conversations about Mexican/Tex-Mex cuisine. It's not real Mex. food, y'all; but it is good. TB has its own flavor. The only thing I can think of that's even remotely comparable in taste to what you'd get at an authentic establishment is their beef gorditas. The rest of their menu is just yummy, fast food junk lol.

I'd rather eat at Taco Bell.
^This... Too many good authentic Mexican food restaurants in the area to eat at one of those places.
