It has been a horrible day to be a policeman, fireman, EMT, tow truck driver today in the DFW area--
so a big thank you from me to all of you--even though I got to stay home...
Appreciate everyone coming to work and doing what was necessary in this icy mess we call the metroplex---
and I hope you will do it all again tomorrow

and hope the sand or whatever they are spreading does not run out

Conversely, it was a great day for people who like their cops too busy to give tickets!

don't see lot of humor in that--just hope people were going slow enough they did not real damage

It's nice to see someone show appreciation for the infrastructure that works to keep everyone safe.

This is a very nice post. Thank you, and definitely thanks to all the public servants (and utility workers too!) who didn't have the option of staying home or in bed. The vast majority of people appreciate what you do!

Yes--I forgot to thank the Atmos and electric service guys and the regular city workers and plumbers--I know there are plenty of people with frozen pipes right now...

I just hope the sand and de-icing materials last--because this type of weather is not something most cities figure into their budget---and with all the road construction going on in the Metroplex I think sand was probably priced high based on demand for use in roadway construction--so cities may not have been able to buy as much as they normally would just from budget standpoint...

I agree. They work tirelessly in the freezing cold to keep people safe. My hats off to them.

I say thanks to all those policemen out in the frigid morning directing traffic at the busy intersections when the rolling blackouts hit.

Absolutely joining the THANK YOU to those who have to get up and go to work and provide for public safety! They don't have the option of sleeping in even the worst of the worst weather. And, this is especially noteable in that this type Artic conditions are not something most of us Texans are used to dealing with.

Great thread and thoughts, L2R!
