Neither have we here on the south High Plains even with the very frigid temperatures we have seen for the past few days. When my Coop power goes out it's usually because of a power pole that has rotted out at the base and fallen.

Rick Perry in California during frigid weather, power outages | Trail Blazers Blog | dallasnews.com

Gov. Rick Perry's (http://topics.dallasnews.com/topic/Rick_Perry - broken link) office acknowledged today that the governor was in balmy California as power blackouts rolled across Texas in what had been the second day of sub-freezing temperatures. His office said he is visiting troops, will be staying aboard the USS Reagan (http://topics.dallasnews.com/topic/Ronald_Reagan - broken link), and participating in festivities surrounding Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday.
If you think that's bad, let's not forget his predecessor, Dubya, chose to attend a $1500 a plate fundraiser for his "exploratory" presidential campaign over surveying the damage from the tornado that barreled through downtown Fort Worth and Arlington.

And you don't think Dewhurst didn't act ? He's the next in command if Perry isn't available.
Did you expect Perry to cancel and fly back to do what exactly ?
What went wrong that Perry could have righted had he been in Texas ?

Here in Northeast Tarrant County we haven't had one single power outage. And NO, higher taxes do not help the power grid. Only Dopos want higher taxes.

That is just wrong--there have been rolling blackouts for short periods of time and some areas with longer blackouts of an hour or more--some areas has several of them--so many that some of the businesses just closed early
Bedford, Colleyville--I know people living there who had them in their neighborhoods--but mine in Hurst has had none

Article in Friday's FTW paper that Atmos caused some of the electric plants to have problems providing enough power to the grid because ATMOS restricted flow of NG to electric plans running on NG--
as way to conserve NG for residential customers--

pretty stupid way to run a system if you ask me

Doesn't matter..... higher taxes will fix it.....Power lines wont break from the ice on them if you have higher taxes, that's a known fact......

I did not either but think that is more because we have fire station close to our neighborhood and can't cut power to us without cutting it to them either

Could this have something to do with the rolling blackouts? Mexico is dealing with the same craptasic weather as TX.
